Paul Reade (1943-1997) was an English musician who, apart from working as a repetiteur at English National Opera, was very active as a composer, principally for the television. This work has since gone on to be one of the most famous in the clarinettist’s repertoire and is a firm favourite as a recital work, with either piano or harp accompaniment.
The work has been a long-time stalwart in the music examination field appearing on the ABRSM and Trinity syllabi.
